Position Summary
The Timpanogos Arts Foundation is looking for a sets and facilities manager! This role would be primarily responsible for overseeing the design and construction of the sets for all of our Community and Youth Theater productions. They would also be responsible for setting up and monitoring the inventory systems for our buildings, helping reduce the amount of wasted materials and maximizing storage space. They will also be the primary point of contact for ensuring that props and costumes are properly stored and accounted for.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee Set Design:
- Oversee the design of our 7-10 sets built each year for theater and youth theater
- Manager will be expected to design at least 80% of the sets, and oversee the construction of all of them.
- Work in collaboration with show directors as well as program managers to capture the vision of each production
- Coordinate with volunteer teams to maximize efficiency of volunteered time.
- Fire and Safety Compliance:
- The manager will be responsible for working with the fire and safety inspectors at our primary work place to ensure that our builds are up to code, and follow all safety regulations
- Communicate needs of fire plans with general manager and get designs to them 1 month prior to the event start date.
- Facility Management:
- Create and update inventory systems to track the set supplies.
- Oversee the design of an inventory system for props and costumes and act as the primary point of contact for the usage of these materials
- Work with other local arts foundations to borrow/share as many things as possible
- Storage Space Management
- Oversee the usage of all storage facility usage to reduce waste as much as possible.
- Maximize storage space by keeping things in our existing spaces organize.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Attend production meetings, rehearsals, or strategy sessions.
- Provide feedback to improve internal designs and operations.
- Represent the organization with professionalism and respect for all staff.
Skills and Qualifications
- Experience: 2-3 years in set design and construction experience. Experience in inventory management preferred. Experience in other technical and production areas preferred.
- Technical Proficiency: Basic proficiency in Google Suite programs (excel, sheets, etc.) as well as proficiency in using intermediate inventory management software
- Problem Solving: Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Soft Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
- Flexibility: Ability to work evenings, weekends, and irregular hours as required by the schedule.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50 pounds. Ability to move up stairs. Ability to work on feet for 2+ hours at a time.
